Jonah 3:7-10 " For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water: But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands. Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not."
Friends, when we consecrate our bodies to God in humble submission and acknowledgement that we are His and not lord of our lives, we experience the underserved saving mercy of God. The king of Nineveh understood this and called for the people to purify themselves through a fast and cry out to God, ultimately they were spared destruction. God is the same yesterday, today and forever, (Hebrews 13:8) and has promised that whosoever comes to Him, He will no wise cast out (John 6:37)
What we do with our bodies matters to God because we are His temple (1 Corinthians 6:19), and He says whosoever destroys His temple (your body), God Himself will destroy (1 Corinthians 3:17); however, like the people of Nineveh, if we repent today and concencrate from defiling our bodies through sexual immorality etc, God will repent from His wrath and show mercy because of the blood of Jesus (which speaks mercy) that speaks better things than the blood of Abel (which cries judgement) (Hebrews 12:24)
Change your ways, consecrate your body unto the Lord and He will forgive, restore, preserve and bless you.
