  • The Eternal Revelation Stands Alone
    •   General
    •   Thursday, 31 October 2019
God has definitively spoken to mankind. There has been progressive revelation of God, who spoke in generations past to His servants and prophets, through the nation of Israel, and then, finally, through His Son. The foundational books of the Holy Bible, the Pentateuch and the New Testament Gospels are of an inestimable value in ascertaining the character and nature of God. Furthermore, how much history and instruction is provided for us in the rest of God’s word, in the prophets and the epistles. The point being is that I have something that stands forever, that is, the “God-breathed” scriptures, perfect for everything I need to live a godly and righteous life now, and the only source material to prepare me for eternity. Each page of my Bible, I shall search for Jesus my Lord, in hopes of finding more of Him, or that substance I missed on prior occasions. God’s plan for me, and for you, are to live in this place of learning, searching, living, and applying Christ! Therefore, be VERY wary of anyone who distracts you from this Book, leading you into different places to eat stranger’s bread. There are those who are set up to subtly lead you away from truth. The foundation one builds faith on must be the revealed counsel of God, the plans of His heart which He does not hide from any child. The word of God has no competition, at least that which can save souls.“The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations.”— ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭33:11‬‬

  • CHASING THE SIGN
I know professed believers who are always searching for the healing ministries. They are inflamed with a zealous passion for seeing a miracle, like a demon leaving a person or hearing a testimony of someone who went to hell twenty times or something that is miraculous and awe-inspiring. It’s startling to me. In fact, they are surprised when I don’t run after these things.

Is Christ not enough? Is the work of the Spirit in your life leaving you desirous of a sign? Has the cross bored you?

It’s startling to me. In fact, they are surprised when I don’t run after these things.

Is Christ not enough? Is the work of the Spirit in your life leaving you desirous of a sign? Has the cross bored you?

My friends, wake up. Christianity is the living out of Christ’s life in our bodies, and the love of God in us made possible by the cross, that flows into the lives of other people, in order that the world may see the beauty of Christ and have the hope in the gospel, for the purposes of glorifying God in faith. Chasing after signs is showing our lack of knowledge and shallowness in our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Signs and wonders may come but let us chase after the Lord. The scriptures have spoken.

“The Pharisees came and began to argue with him, seeking from him a sign from heaven to test him. And he sighed deeply in his spirit and said, "Why does this generation seek a sign? Truly, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation."”

“"Woe to you, when all people speak well of you, for so their fathers did to the false prophets.”
    — ‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:26‬‬

Powerful! No, don’t gloss over this. Let it sink in because it should jolt you. How terrible it is for you when the whole world thinks you are the ‘cat’s meow’, the ‘icing on the cake’, the ‘greatest thing since slice bread’. If everyone is adoring you, pouring themselves all over you, desiring and chasing after you, admiring your ways and envying your talents, treating you like grand royalty, it can only mean one thing.....

You are headed for anguish, sorrow, and distress. According to the Lord of Glory, your glory is a sham and you have been made to join the company of “false prophets”. These are the people pleasers, deceivers, smooth talkers, doing good in the sight of man to feed the ego and wallet. If a Christian, you cannot be a very true one, because “the servant will not be greater than his Master.”

Therefore, if they all “love” you and applaud what you say with unanimity and without ever showing offense by your words, you ought to be mortified because you aren’t sharing truth or really helping anyone’s soul at the end of the day. And you will have to give an account.

  • FRUIT OF FAITH

“But those that were sown on the good soil are the ones who hear the word and accept it and bear fruit, thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold."”
    — Mark 4:20

The sower never sows even one seed without expectation from that one seed. Fruit is expected. From this verse, the good soil of the heart hears the word, believes the word, and then produces fruit. It’s a must and an inevitable consequence of good seed in rich soil.

Understand, this is salvation by faith alone because it’s not possible for faith to exist alone! The sower must have a crop lest it is not of faith.

  • NOT WASTING SADNESS

How unbiblical it is when Christians are led to shame or guilt when they have episodes of spiritual depression or become momentarily despondent about their circumstances. But wait! Let us hear the psalmist! These episodes are the perfect opportunities for the Christian to take himself in hand, and preach the gospel to himself, reminding himself of his Lord’s faithfulness, the only steady and unfailing hope. And this he will do in the Lord’s strength as the desire within him to do so rises to the top. Even in tears and mourning and troubles of the soul can the fruit of righteousness grow.

Ministries that judge according to human standards and traditions, of the flesh, carnal, proclaiming to stand for God’s righteousness and the furtherance of the gospel, are at odds with Jesus Christ and the gospel of grace through the obedience of faith. Such are the ones that DEMAND this or that in order for salvation and eternal life to REALLY be taken hold of, in spite of the Atonement. You have seen and heard them, upsetting many who have been sealed with the Holy Spirit, arguing and insisting over a bible version, a gift of the Spirit to be manifest, a denomination to be followed.

Obstacles! And surely a fault is found with such ministries who are acting self-righteously even if the intention is otherwise. I am sure the Israelites upon leaving Egypt, were sincere in desiring to worship the Great God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ too, yet they kept the idols and gods of bulls and calves in their itinerary. Likewise, was not Arron acting in the flesh, yet sincerely a priest of God, when he fashioned a golden calf out of the flames??

May we be careful to glory in God only through the Lord Jesus Christ, adding nothing further that obstructs the Way of the cross for forgiveness and salvation.

    OUR HELPER NO MATTER WHAT

This Helper Jesus talks about in John 14:16-17 is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is sent to us from God the Father, and only through the request of Jesus therefore, He is also sent by Jesus Himself. Consequently, the Father and the Son send the Holy Spirit. There is strong implication from these verses that the Holy Spirit picks up and continues Jesus’ own ministry which He had on earth. This wonderful Gift in the Person of the Holy Spirit will remain with us throughout all our days on earth and even after death! There will never be any time where the Spirit will not be with us. The Holy Spirit is Himself truth therefore will only reveal truth.

The Spirit is received only by believers in Christ. As Christ knows us, and to whatever extent we know Christ truthfully, as He is in God’s word, to that extent will we know the Holy Spirit. Because He is the Spirit of Truth, as believers see and recognize truth (God’s word), so they “see” and recognize the Holy Spirit. To “see” is an action not of the physical or merely intellectual, but it is spiritual eyes incorporating the whole being - the heart, soul and spirit. However, the world, defined as nonbelievers in Jesus Christ, can neither “see” nor know the Holy Spirit , therefore, they cannot receive Him. It’s important to realize that the Spirit cannot be earned nor is He an “it” or some spiritual condition to be achieved. The delivery of the Person of the Spirit MUST come by way of Jesus Christ.

For the believer, abiding with and closely bonded to Jesus Christ, the Spirit is an internally dwelling, constant Companion, who takes up His residence within our soul (our heart, mind, intellect and will). The Spirit is also living all around us in other believers, and dwells with our own spirits and the spirits of believers.

The Holy Spirit is the power source of the Christian and the only means where the believer can produce work worthy of God, through faith, trust, and obedience. This is why He is called the Helper, for He helps the believer do that which he should do yet that which, without the Spirit, he surely cannot do. As well as a Constant Companion, Comforter, bringing Conviction of sin and Jesus Christ, He will reveal truth (inevitably) to all of God’s children, those who belong to the Father through the calling to Jesus Christ.

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.”

Ruth didn’t wave a banner, nor sound a trumpet, nor yell into the marketplaces, before she sacrificed her own desires and dreams, and directed her remaining years into the service of her widowed mother-in-law, Naomi. She just did it, hidden and in secret. However, the Lord repaid her openly in His sight and the sight of man!Let us not weary in well doing for we know our Lord is faithful and trustworthy. What is hidden will not remain hidden and what was done in the dark will come to the light; and what has been done in secret will be recompensed/rewarded by our Father in heaven.“Then Boaz said to Ruth, "Now, listen, my daughter, do not go to glean in another field or leave this one, but keep close to my young women. Let your eyes be on the field that they are reaping, and go after them. Have I not charged the young men not to touch you? And when you are thirsty, go to the vessels and drink what the young men have drawn." Then she fell on her face, bowing to the ground, and said to him, "Why have I found favor in your eyes, that you should take notice of me, since I am a foreigner?" But Boaz answered her, "All that you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband has been fully told to me, and how you left your father and mother and your native land and came to a people that you did not know before. The Lord repay you for what you have done, and a full reward be given you by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge!" Then she said, "I have found favor in your eyes, my lord, for you have comforted me and spoken kindly to your servant, though I am not one of your servants."”— ‭‭Ruth‬ ‭2:8-13‬‬

DO NOT LEAN ON YOUR UNDERSTANDING
    Judges 7:2-7

God’s glory will never be dependent on men or men’s resources, indeed, because He is God they cannot! His power and renowned strength is predominantly displayed through weakness, frailty, and disadvantage. One must come to the conclusion, since His word illustrates this astounding principle with such consistency, God is most graciously stripping mankind of its deeply imbedded pride, which has gripped our souls since the Fall. When God does a work, there will be no mistake as to the Force behind it. If He chooses to use men (which He does!) to perform His wonders and signs, His style and strategy will be so far removed from human logic and reasoning, that one might question rightfully the necessity of men at all in the action!

However, God is Perfect and Orderly, always seeking permanent reconciliation with the man created in His image, who carries around the sin disease in his heart, body, and soul. Therefore, man must be frequently reminded of the Awe, Reverence, and Honor that God is most worthy of and the Glory that will no doubt accrue solely and completely to Him alone. For restoration and truth, men must know they are just men and, accordingly, their “numbers”, plans, natural abilities or quantitative strategies do not count for a thing when it comes to God’s purposes for Himself and them. Here we see the display of this as God strips Israel’s army from 22,000 to 300, right before sending them into a seemingly unanimously, lopsided battle.

The answer to our pride and the display of God’s strategy that defies human logic and reasoning is the Cross. Let’s thank God our Father for the Lord Jesus Christ, who came “disadvantaged” every way a man can be, sharing in the weakness of men, yet without sin, so we can be sons and daughters of such Majesty and Glory.

    Judges 7:2-7:
“The Lord said to Gideon, "The people with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand, lest Israel boast over me, saying, 'My own hand has saved me.' Now therefore proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, 'Whoever is fearful and trembling, let him return home and hurry away from Mount Gilead.'" Then 22,000 of the people returned, and 10,000 remained. And the Lord said to Gideon, "The people are still too many. Take them down to the water, and I will test them for you there, and anyone of whom I say to you, 'This one shall go with you,' shall go with you, and anyone of whom I say to you, 'This one shall not go with you,' shall not go." So he brought the people down to the water. And the Lord said to Gideon, "Every one who laps the water with his tongue, as a dog laps, you shall set by himself. Likewise, every one who kneels down to drink." And the number of those who lapped, putting their hands to their mouths, was 300 men, but all the rest of the people knelt down to drink water. And the Lord said to Gideon, "With the 300 men who lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hand, and let all the others go every man to his home."”

  • “For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.”‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭4:3-4‬ ‭WE ARE HERE...Yes we have arrived at the time spoken of by the prophets where man has decidedly taken control of his modern life so that he can pursue all things that please him, fancy him, and enlighten him into the comforts and conformities of his existence, all in the pursuit of liberty, license, and most outlandishly, love. Even if they started off in the doctrine of Christ crucified for sinners, the glamor and attraction of the world has overwhelmed them, pushing out the sacred writings for something wholly different, more acceptable, convenient, tolerable, and more importantly, the way embraced by his peers, whose opinions they really have craved all along. Now to the lost who remains hardened because of the enemy that steals the words of Life immediately upon sowing, to them, we can still lift such persons up in hopeful prayer that repentance is still possible. However, how tragic is the one who has claimed Christ as Lord and Savior, yet has not loved Him from the heart, all the while the mouth still runs with “niceties” about Him and “religious thoughts” pertaining to Him, as if a man can possibly ignore the omniscience of God. From these deluded ones, you will surely hear about how “Christ loves us all”, a truth to one extent alone and therefore distorted because it is NOT said in truth at all, but rather it has been exclaimed with an entirely different and perverse intention. Grace is perverted unto licentiousness and not celebrated as empowerment for obedience. And To what degree this man goes to join Christ Jesus, the Holy One, with his own favorite, and quite excusable, fleshly delight! Whether it be for a man’s reputation, fortune, or sexual proclivity, it matters not because “these times are different” he says. Although Jesus remains the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow, this so called Christian rejects the traditions passed down in favor of the pursuit of progressivism. The problem is man cannot have both! They cannot endure sound doctrine as the spirit of modernity, a satanic illusion, has not only blinded them to the truth but has seared the heart that ,at one time prior, had been softened to receive the life-giving Word. The truth is mocked and hated now, in order to make room for the more acceptable, consensual lifestyle, in the name of Love and Life. What blasphemy they have accrued to their own accounts! This is not harsh speaking. For the Scriptures say clearly, “whoever does not love the Lord Jesus let him be accursed”. This is Truth as the curse laid upon mankind after the fall of Adam shall continue for them into perpetuity lest there is true repentance. The most hurtful reality is that they have blended in for a while, deceiving even the elect of their false election, yet the trees are now bringing forth the rotten fruit, to which they were destined to inevitably bear. May God grant us the sound judgment and discernment in recognizing these who “hide” behind the Truth yet who have hated the truth because God’s Word was not in them then, and never was as proven by their fallen state.

    Fear of God?
    •   General
    •   Sunday, 18 August 2019
DO WE FEAR GOD? Holy, reverential fear of God is lacking everywhere even within the walls of the church. I would not be far off saying that revival, lack of discipleship, and the church's mixing in with the world is evidence of such. The fear (great reverence and to be in awe of; the recognition of the Power and Sovereignty that causes us to run towards ) of the Lord is essential and missing in the modern church. Without fear of God, we are hindered in our own walk and the effectiveness of the church's effort to spread the gospel is greatly diminished. Thankfully, the Lord works this fear within us, which adequately explains a significant portion of the suffering a Christian endures. Let us recall, that Jesus Himself, not only feared God to the point of the cross, but commanded us to do the same (Matt 10:28). Fearing the Lord is: 1. Life giving (Proverbs 10:27)2. Eternally cleansing (Psalm 19:93. Providing wisdom and knowledge (Proverbs 1:7; 15:33)4. Rewarding with riches and honor (Proverbs 22:4)5. Hatred of evil and so essential for obedience (Proverbs 8:13; 16:6; 14:27)6. Results in courage, confidence, total satisfaction, and provision for families (2 Chronicles 14:14; Proverbs 14:26; 19:23)The inability to comprehend that God is unchanging from covenant to covenant, so that grace and mercy are truly that, not license but opportunity to live in holy fear, is preventing our spiritual growth. We cast off the God of the Old Testament as the angry, impatient God always ready to deliver wrath upon the wicked and, by extension, erroneously cling to Jesus as the One who is far different, more patient and loving than the God of Israel. Our Lord is the mediator of a better convenant, however, think not falsely that God has somehow changed character. He will judge all, believers first and nonbelievers later, although the former are saved from eternal wrath. He who can cast into hell must be feared! Individually, let us spend time on our knees. Corporately, let us follow those who have gone before us (Hebrews 11-12) and set the example with all exhortation and encouragement, that while He is our loving Father, He is to be greatly honored, respected, and obeyed. Ask now. Do I fear the Lord? “And his mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation.”‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:50‬ ‭
